• Primarily work as a buyer within the set decoration department with the key responsibility of procuring set dressing that aligns with the project’s creative vision.

• Demonstrate resourcefulness and a relentless drive to source virtually anything seen on set under tight deadlines.

• Analyze scripts to identify set decoration requirements for each scene.

• Collaborate with the set decorator and production designer to ensure set dressing feels authentic and immersive.

• Create style boards to present to the director to help visualize the set’s aesthetic.

• Conduct extensive research to identify suppliers, stores and vendors that can provide necessary items.

• Visit diverse locations, from design showrooms to salvage yards, to find unique and period appropriate pieces.

• Arrange for custom-made items if specific pieces cannot be found.

• Negotiate pricing and rental terms to stay within the production budget.

• Quickly adapt to last-minute changes or creative shifts by finding alternatives or solutions.

• Nurture and maintain strong relationships with vendors to facilitate smooth transactions and future collaborations.
